First Visit: What to Expect

At Midwest Muscle & Joint Clinic we take pride in our examination and assessments with every patient. Typically, a first visit can be anywhere from 30-45 mins. This may seem like a long time, but for us to properly diagnosis and have a plan of action for treatment, we make this visit very thorough yet as efficient as possible.
Chiropractic + Exercise + Sports Medicine
About the Clinic

Chiropractic + Exercise

All of our treatment and therapy consists of not only chiropractic care but also corrective exercises. Research suggests that when we combine manipulation with rehabilitation, we not only see shorter treatment plans but also lower healthcare costs.
About the Clinic

Pregnancy & Chiropractic

A woman’s body goes through many changes during pregnancy in an effort to accommodate the growing baby. All of these changes can be physically demanding and painful for a mother. Some of these changes can commonly cause back pain, pelvic pain, sciatica, headaches and much more.
Chiropractic Adjustment
Services & Treatment

Chiropractic Adjustment

When someone thinks of a Chiropractor, typically the first thing that comes to mind is the adjustment. At Midwest Muscle & Joint Clinic we use adjustments (manipulation) in conjunction with many other functional treatments. Most patients do not fully understand the mechanics involved in an adjustment, all they know is that they often feel better afterwards.. but why?
Active Release Technique being performed on calf muscle.
Services & Treatment

Active Release Techniques® (ART)

ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.
Dry Needling being performed on Trap muscle
Services & Treatment

Dry Needling

Dry needling is one of our favorite treatment options that we love to use in conjunction with other chiropractic modalities; and we have been getting amazing results. But with it being such a new therapy option we have a lot of people asking the question, “What is it, and how does a Chiropractor utilize it?”
Sports Physicals: palpating knee with ortho exams
Services & Treatment

Sports Physicals

Sports Physicals are an essential (KSHSAA required) assessment for athletes. They are not only used to determine if an athlete is healthy enough to play sports, but is also used to evaluate and prevent the risk of future injuries. With every Sports Physical we go above-and-beyond what is necessary to assess and document by including a complimentary Functional Movement Screen.
Cupping Therapy: we utilize silicone cups to help decrease pain and tension in the body.
Services & Treatment

Cupping Therapy

Using silicone cups, the goal of cupping is to create suction in order to facilitate the release of tension out of overactive and tight muscles. When the cups create suction, a vacuum-effect takes place underneath the skin.
Utilizing the FMS movement screen (hurdle test shown above)
Services & Treatment

Movement Screens

Midwest Muscle & Joint Clinic utilizes a movement-based system in Lawrence, KS to help people move better, and then move often. This is accomplished through the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and the Functional Movement Screen (FMS).

Sleeping Enough?

We’ve all heard it. When you’re sick, rest. When you’re hurting, rest. There is no doubt that the body needs rest. Sleep is critical for the proper functioning of the body, including immune function, tissue healing, pain modulation, cardiovascular health, cognitive function, and learning and memory.
